Retro: 1st International Artist’s Book Exhibition “Book”, 1993

In Lithuania Artist‘s Book Exhibitions were initiated and organized in the last decade of the 20th century, when Lithuania restored her independence, left the formation of the USSR and regained freedom. In 17th of August 1993 the First International Artist‘s Book Exhibition “Book” was opened in the Contemporary Art Centre in Vilnius. 17 artists from Lithuania, one artist from Denmark, one from Latvia, one from France, and two from Russia participated in the Exhibition. On this time, we were all young artists with big dreams… Now, after 29 years, when I look on the artists who participated in the Artist‘s Book Exhibition, I see that almost all of them become famous Lithuanian artists, four artists received the Lithuanian National Culture and Arts Award – the most important award in Lithuania!

For this Virtual Artist‘s Book Exhibition I scanned the catalogue, because photos were made with analogue photo camera, and I had no saved images.
